Made from open cell natural rubber, a biodegradable material that is sustainably harvested from rubber trees and manufactured without hazardous phthalate plasticizers, heavy metals or PVC, this yoga mat is not only safer for your health and our environment but has the best performance that your practice deserves. Nothing feels or grips like natural rubber! Additionally, this is the only natural rubber mat that has a natural, renewable, and biodegradable inner stability mesh. Most inner mesh within other mats are synthetic from polypropelene, polyester or nylon but the Natural Fitness rubber yoga mats use a natural cotton mesh within so it will "completely" and safely biodegrade in a landfill. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the main ingredient found in industrial manufactured yoga mats. Vinyl chloride, a known carcinogen, is the base substance found in PVC. Other common chemical additives found in PVC yoga mats include lead, cadmium, and phthalates. Health risks associated with these chemical additives include reproductive problems, cancer, disruptions in the endocrine system, and many other conditions. These additives are also emitted during use and leak into groundwater when disposed of in a landfill. As well, PVC is non biodegradable, creates harmful carcinogens known as dioxins during manufacturing, and cannot be recycled. |
